Block Out Name in Screenshot

Cover full names, display names, and @handles in screenshots while keeping context intact.

🔒 No upload · Runs in your browser · Instant download

Bug reports, HR escalations, and forum posts often need context without exposing real identities. HideShot helps you block out name in screenshot headers, profile rows, and signature lines with a few drags.

Pick Black Box for legal or HR sensitivity, Blur for low-stakes demos, or Pixelate for a news-style censor. No account, no cloud upload — paste with Ctrl+V and download PNG when done.

Block Out Name in Screenshot — Identity-Safe Sharing

To block out name in screenshot threads responsibly, redact both given and family names when they appear on separate lines. Check avatars and email local-parts in the same crop — they may identify someone even after the display name is covered.

Rectangle selection works for Slack and Teams sidebars; Lasso helps with angled watermark names on photos. Use multiple passes for quoted replies that repeat the same name.

Exported PNGs carry no HideShot watermark. Combine with our document censoring pages if names appear in attached PDF screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

Can I block first and last names separately?

Yes. Draw individual boxes for each line or use one box spanning both.

Does pixelate hide names in bold UI fonts?

Pixelate obscures detail but Black Box is safer for legal or HR submissions.

Can I undo a redaction before downloading?

Yes. Use Undo in the toolbar or Clear to reset the whole image.

Will blocking names affect screenshot quality?

Only the selected regions change; the rest of the image stays at original resolution.
